What Participants Have Written
Faridah Aziz
Petaling Jaya · Teacher
I attended the Vocabulary Workshop because I kept reading financial articles that used terms I did not understand. The four sessions gave me a clear way to think about what a reserve fund actually is and why the number matters for a household like mine. The workbook is still on my desk — I use the goal template regularly.

Shah Alam · Site Supervisor
The Reserve Reading Course was more substantial than I expected from six sessions. The monthly templates were practical and the midpoint written review helped me see where my workbook entries were unclear. My only note is that evenings on weekdays can be tiring after a full shift, but the session length was manageable at 90 minutes.

Nora Nordin
Subang Jaya · HR Officer
I enrolled in the Year of Reserve Pages Programme and it was exactly what I needed. The ten weeks gave me enough time to actually build a habit rather than just understand the theory. The three one-to-one written check-ins from the facilitator were the most useful part — the responses were specific to what I had written, not general comments.

Puchong · Accountant
Even as someone who works in finance, I found the Vocabulary Workshop useful. The framing around household use — rather than investment portfolios or corporate context — was different from what I was used to. The small group meant we could actually compare scenarios instead of just listening to a presentation.

Damansara · Self-employed
The Reserve Reading Course suited my situation as a self-employed person with variable income. The monthly templates were designed for different income patterns, which I had not expected. The written feedback after Week 3 was thorough — I went back and rewrote several workbook sections based on those comments before the final session.

I came to Mendric with very little background in any kind of financial planning. The Vocabulary Workshop was the right starting point. Everything was explained in plain language and we had time to write in the workbook during each session, not just listen. I am now in the Reserve Reading Course and the progression feels natural.

Participant Journeys in Detail
Amirul Wafi, 34
Secondary school teacher, Klang Valley
Challenge
Amirul had been setting money aside each month but had no written plan and no clear target. When a family expense arose mid-year, he was uncertain whether his savings were sufficient and had no framework for evaluating the situation.
Approach
He enrolled in the Reserve Reading Course. Using the monthly templates and quarterly review pages, he created a written record of his household's pattern over the six weeks and used the workbook feedback to refine his target figure.
Outcome
By the end of the six weeks, Amirul had a written reserve target, a monthly setting-aside routine, and a quarterly review page he continues to fill in independently. He described the shift as having a map instead of just a direction.
"The written review at Week 3 showed me that I was confusing two different ideas — my savings balance and my reserve fund target. Sorting out that distinction changed how I was filling in the templates."
Suhana Ibrahim, 41
Freelance designer, Petaling Jaya
Challenge
With variable monthly income, Suhana found it difficult to apply most financial planning content she encountered online, which assumed a fixed salary. She wanted a framework suited to irregular income patterns.
Approach
She enrolled in the Year of Reserve Pages Programme. The monthly templates in her workbook included sections for noting income variation, and the three one-to-one written check-ins allowed for specific feedback on her irregular patterns.
Outcome
After completing the ten weeks, Suhana had a full year of workbook pages set up and a written approach to setting aside funds during higher-income months to cover quieter ones. She continues to use the workbook independently.
"Most reserve fund content I had read before was written for salaried employees. The templates here were different — they assumed you might not know your income for next month."
Priya Letchumanan, 29
Administrative executive, Cyberjaya
Challenge
Priya was in her first full-time job and had not yet built any reserve fund habit. She found financial literacy content online too fast-paced and wanted a more measured starting point.
Approach
She started with the Vocabulary Workshop. The four sessions introduced reserve fund vocabulary gradually and the small group meant she could ask questions without feeling out of place.
Outcome
She completed the workshop with a written reserve goal in her workbook and has since enrolled in the Reserve Reading Course to continue building the practice. She noted the printed workbook as important to her — something physical to return to.
"I had tried to read about this online but always felt overwhelmed by halfway through. Four sessions with a workbook and a small group was a completely different experience."
